Technowood’s story did not begin with a product launch. It began with wood, a workshop and generations learning the material by working with it.
What started in Kerala in 1973 has continued to evolve with changing homes, technologies and ways of living. Today, we bring that experience together with contemporary product design to create objects that feel familiar, useful and considered.

Our Story
From a Kerala sawmill to objects for everyday lifes. Technowood’s journey began in 1973, when the late Sri T. C. Halthaf Mummy established Techno Wood Industries as a small sawmill in Kerala. Over five decades, it grew into a trusted supplier of indigenous and imported timber across the state.
1973 - Where it began
Technowood began in Kerala in 1973, when the late Sri T. C. Halthaf Mummy established Techno Wood Industries as a small sawmill.
What started with timber, tools and a deep understanding of wood became the foundation for everything that followed.
1990s Learning from wood
Years spent working closely with timber taught us to read the material before shaping it.
Its grain, density, strength, colour and response to changing seasons became knowledge passed through everyday work — not simply learnt from a book.
Wood was never just a material to us. It was something to understand.
2010s - From material to making
Over time, that knowledge began to influence not only how we worked with wood, but what we believed should be made from it.
The question slowly changed from “What can we make?” to “What deserves to be made?”
Useful objects. Honest materials. Forms that belong naturally in everyday life.
2023 - A new chapter
Technowood began taking shape as a contemporary product brand rooted in Kerala.
Designers, craftspeople and makers came together around one idea: carry decades of material knowledge forward without simply repeating the past.
Traditional understanding remained at the heart of the work — expressed through objects made for the way we live today.
2026 - Made for everyday life
Today, Technowood creates objects intended to be used, cared for and lived with.
A cutting board will collect knife marks. Wood will deepen in colour. Surfaces will carry traces of everyday life.
We do not see these as imperfections.
They are signs that an object has found its place in a home.
