Our Story
From a Kerala sawmill to objects for everyday lifes
Technowood’s journey began in 1973, when the late Sri T. C. Halthaf Mummy established Techno Wood Industries as a small sawmill in Kerala. Over five decades, it grew into a trusted supplier of indigenous and imported timber across the state.
Years of working closely with raw wood taught us that a good product begins long before its final shape. It starts with selecting the right timber, seasoning it properly and understanding how it responds to moisture, changing seasons and everyday use.
That knowledge became the foundation of Technowood.
Designed from the material outward
We do not begin every project by deciding what shape we want to make.We often begin with the wood.
Its density, grain direction, strength, natural colour and response to moisture influence the final form. Mango wood may suit one product, while teak, jackwood, palmwood or mahogany may be more appropriate for another.
This material-led approach helps us design products that feel honest rather than overworked.
Made in Kerala
Our products are developed and made in Kerala, supported by craftspeople, designers and makers who understand the material through years of hands-on experience.
Traditional knowledge is important to us, but we do not simply reproduce old forms. We study how people live today and develop products that bring natural wood into modern homes without losing the character of where they come from.
Made to become part of everyday life
A cutting board will collect knife marks. A serving piece will deepen in colour. A wooden box may carry small signs of use over time.
We do not see these changes as defects. They are part of living with a natural material.
Technowood products are made to be used, cared for and kept—not protected like display pieces.
